God wants us to stop and consider the little things, those seemingly commonplace, ordinary moments. He places these everyday treasures in our lives so we might receive the precious revelation of his great love for us. This is especially true as we engage in the Christmas account. The birth of the Son of God and all its surrounding storylines are read every year, and we wonder if there is anything new to discover. This account is so familiar that we tend to gloss over words and phrases because they seem to roll off our tongues. What would happen if we paused momentarily to reflect on the Christmas story’s well-worn and somewhat overlooked words and phrases? God has intentionally placed nuggets of precious revelation for us; if we are willing to wait in expectation for his message, he has just for us.
During the twenty-five days of December, God is inviting you to slowly walk through what, at first glance, might seem insignificant. It is found in such surprising places. The brilliance of God’s Word is that there is always something he desires to reveal to us if we are willing to linger.
The Spiritual Life Development Department has put this experience together in two ways:
- The Unsung Words of the Christmas Story is available in booklet form. Sometimes, seeing it on the written page allows the opportunity to read and reread. It can help newly revealed truths become embedded in your soul. See links below
- An audible version of The Unsung Words of the Christmas Story is available through the SLD Facebook page (click here to go to our page…like and follow us and please share it with friends!). This version also provides music to add to your worship experience, which has been made available through the Territorial Music Department.
May The Unsung Words of the Christmas Story become part of your Advent journey this Christmas. This resource may become part of your daily worship experience to help you personally celebrate Immanuel, God with us!
