As our Spotlight Series continues, we are grateful for the opportunity to hear another story of a life being shaped by Jesus. Each person’s journey of faith is unique, yet through these stories we often discover familiar reminders of God’s grace, faithfulness, and invitation to know Him more deeply.
In this third installment, we are pleased to feature Major Jin Lee, Command Secretary for Spiritual Life Development in the PENDEL Division. In her reflections, Major Lee shares about the central place Scripture holds in her daily walk with Jesus, the hope and confidence she finds in the resurrection, and her desire for Christ to be at the center of every part of her life. Her words offer a beautiful reminder that faith is not simply about knowing about Jesus, but about meeting with Him, trusting Him, and allowing His life to shape the way we live and love others. We invite you to read her story and consider what it means for Christ to live in and through you.
Can you share a resource that you can say has made a significant impact on your relationship with Jesus? How has it helped you grow closer to Him?
The resource that has made the greatest impact on my relationship with Jesus is the Bible itself. I have read many devotional books and Christian books over the years, and they have blessed me in many ways. But I have come to realize that I don’t need anything more than God’s Word to meet with Him. Every morning, I spend quiet time reading and meditating on Scripture and praying for the day and for the people I love. Through the Bible, I hear God’s voice speaking to me—not just as information about God, but as His living Word that speaks into my life today. Sometimes a verse encourages me, sometimes it challenges me, and sometimes it reminds me of God’s faithfulness when I need it most. The more I read Scripture, the more I understand who Jesus is, how deeply He loves me, and how He wants me to live and love others. The Bible has helped me move from simply knowing about Jesus to experiencing His presence and trusting Him in my everyday life. For me, it is not just a book I read; it is where I meet with the living God.
What is your favorite worship song, book, or podcast (you can list as many as you would like, but let us know why they are your favorite)?
My favorite worship song is “Because He Lives.” The words, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,” express so much of what I believe and how I want to live. I am deeply grateful for God’s grace—that Jesus loves me, died for me, and rose again for me. Because He lives, I don’t have to live in fear or worry about tomorrow. There are certainly difficult and uncertain moments in my life, but the resurrection reminds me that Jesus is alive and that my life is ultimately in His hands. Because He lives, I can be joyful today, trust Him with tomorrow, and love others freely. This song is more than a favorite song to me. It is a declaration of my faith. Jesus is alive, His grace is enough, and because He lives, I can face whatever comes.
What is the most meaningful Scripture verse to you, and why? If you have more than one, feel free to share- no restrictions.
My most meaningful Scripture is Galatians 2:20. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This verse expresses the heart of my relationship with Jesus. I am continually reminded that my life is not ultimately about me. It is a life that has been given back to God. The words “Christ lives in me” are especially meaningful to me. I want Jesus to live through my thoughts, my words, my relationships, my work, and the way I love and serve other people. And the words “who loved me and gave himself for me” remind me that this life is a response to His incredible grace.
I am grateful simply to be alive and to have the opportunity to love God and love others because of the love I have received from Him. Galatians 2:20 reminds me every day of who I am, whose I am, and how I want to live. Because He lives, I can face today. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. And because He lives in me, I want my whole life to point back to Him.
