Care of the earth has certainly been in the news lately.  The Environmental Protection Agency is targeted for lawsuits in the wake of a toxic spill in the Animas River in Colorado.  It is estimated that 3 million gallons of toxic wastewater spilled into the river by a team of EPA contractors.  Residents and local officials are infuriated, and rightly so, but what can we do about this incident 1,000’s of miles away?

The sea is his for he made it. . .and his hands formed the dry land. Psalm 95:5

Creation is God’s gift, and it is to be nurtured and maintained with love and care. Christians are to exercise loving dominion that honors scriptural values and leaves future generations what they will need.  Psalm 95:5 says, “The sea is his for he made it. . .and his hands formed the dry land.”  You may not be able to participating in righting the wrong in Colorado, but you can start with your own attitude and lifestyle.  Ask yourself the following questions:

• How does God view the resources I use?

• How does God view my use of natural resources and my due diligence in taking care of planet earth?

• Where have I taken for granted God’s good gifts in this world?  Who goes without these gifts?

• What is God asking of me as far as my role in the care of the earth?
