“Are you a kingdom man?”

If you are a messed up man, you are going to contribute to a messed up family. If you are a messed up family, you are going to contribute to a messed up church. If you are a messed up church, you are going to contribute to a messed up community. If you are a messed up community, you are going to contribute to a messed up state. If you are a messed up state, you are going to contribute to a messed up country. And if you are a messed up country, you are going to contribute to a messed up world.

Therefore, the only way to have a better world made up of better countries composed of better states filled with better communities influenced by better churches inhabited by better families is by becoming a better man.

It starts with you.

The path to a better world begins with you. And me. It begins with us.

You become a better man by aligning yourself under the comprehensive rule of God over every area of your life – under God’s kingdom agenda. You do it through choosing not just to be a man, but also a kingdom man. By being the man that David wrote about in what has become my benchmark passage for man-hood, Psalm 128. No other passage in Scripture so comprehensively covers the kingdom impact of a kingdom man through all four spheres of life, which include the personal, family, church, and community. Psalm 128 is specifically written to men to tell them how they are to function.

It is the mantra of a kingdom man:

“How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,

Who walks in His ways.

When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands,

You will be happy and it will be well with you.

Our wife shall be like a fruitful vine within your house,

Your children like olive plants

Around your table.

Behold, for thus shall the man be blessed

Who fears the Lord.

The Lord bless you from Zion,

And may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

Indeed, may you see your children’s children.

Peace be upon Israel!” (Psalm 128)

In this Psalm, David outlines the life of a kingdom man. He begins with the personal life of a man who fears the Lord: “How blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you.”
