NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
Love, Life, and Liberty
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
This year, under the theme Love, Life and Liberty (...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Cor. 3:17), we’ve created a virtual prayer walk. Please take some time praying over the 7 essential aspects of American life.
Below are the 7 points of prayer, with descriptions of each need. The images automatically change, but you’re able to scroll through each at your own pace.
As we prepare to pray for others in our nation on this National Day of Prayer, let us first thank God for what he has done for us.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
As we observe the 2021 National Day of Prayer, let us begin by thanking God for his protection and provision during the past 12 months of the coronavirus pandemic. We pray for those who have been affected by this virus, for those who have lost loved ones, jobs, income, and a way of life. May the Lord continue to be our stability, strength, and hope in the days ahead.
Through this past year of challenge, we have sensed your love sustaining us, the life that you grant us each day, and the liberty that is ours through our forgiveness of sins. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
Lord, hear our prayers and answer according to you grace and mercy. Amen.
